Shingle Color Suggestions

 In blog

The color of a roof shingle can make or break the entire house. If the color of the shingle doesn’t match the color of the brick, deck or garage doors, then it can lead to expensive remodeling. Or even worse, living in a house that you don’t find visually appealing.

There are a number of things to keep in mind when picking the shingle color. From the accents of the home to the surrounding environment, everything is a factor in the decision process. Some of the more common colors are black, beige, brown, blue, and green. With all of these options, making a decision can be daunting.

Black

Black is a go-to color for roof shingles. In fashion, the rule of thumb is that black goes with everything. The same can be said about roof shingles, as they act as a neutral background color and go with almost any combination.

Beige

Although less common than black, beige is an excellent choice for roof shingles. They go well with darker and lighter colored houses. Beige roof shingles look great all year-round, however, they really pop in the fall season, when all of the leaves turn to yellow, red, and orange.

Brown

Brown is a classic color for roof shingles. They go well with lighter colored bricks like beige and pink. Brown roof shingles look good all throughout the day, but there is something about the way that the morning light bounces off of brown shingles that makes the morning complete.

Blue

Blue roof shingles are excellent for cottages and hunting shacks near water and open skies. The different shades of blue all melt together blissfully. However, it can be difficult to find a brick color that goes well with blue.

Green

Like blue roof shingles, green roof shingles work well with cottages and hunting shacks. Unlike blue roof shingles, green roof shingles are easier to match with. They go well with dark browns and wooden materials.
