Different Types of Carports
Your vehicle is the second largest investment you can make (your house is the first). You no doubt want to protect that investment, and a good way to do that is with a carport. Finding the right one may take a little bit of shopping around, but the end result will be peace of mind and a place where your vehicle can be protected from the elements.
The type of carport you want or need will depend on a variety of factors, including where it will be located on your property. When determining what type of carport to get, you’ll need to consider the various types that exist. They include the following.
Party Tent Carport
This is basically a tent that is big enough to cover a car. It can have a metal frame with a cover over the top. It is lightweight and can be moved from one location to the other. It’s not a very sturdy structure, but it will protect the vehicle from the sun and a few other weather conditions.
More often than not, these are prefabricated, which means that they have been constructed before they are delivered so there is little assembly that needs to occur. These structures are sturdier and more stable than a party tent, and they are a semi-permanent structure. They usually have open sides with a roof that protects your car from the elements.
This structure is a more permanent option. It is constructed by extending the garage or the side of the house and having polycarbonate sheets that create the roof. It is incredibly sturdy and can withstand the vast majority of storms.
If you’re looking for another lightweight carport option, this may be for you. It is constructed of aluminum rods that are rust resistant. It is sturdier than a tent carport but still portable, unlike a metal canopy. It can protect your car from the sun and rain.
